I am a stay at home father of 10 and know how easy it is to say "no". Whether it is basketball or ice cream, the word "no" just comes out too fast sometimes. I made it a point to stock up on popsicles for the summer just so I could say "yes" a little more. We are making the 20 hour drive to Florida as part of my "yes" excercises. Your kids see and feel the effort you put into something and it affects them on a personal level. Great post, thank you.

Hi Samantha, sorry it took so long to respond. Stacey has been super busy getting materials ready for our next school year.

On the biscuit mix with raisins - no changes to the liquid are needed. Just add the fruit and go!

You are so right!
I make pancake mixes up and store them in Ziploc bags and put them in the freezer (to keep fresh wheat fresh). All I have to add is milk, eggs, and honey in the mornings.

Do you have to adjust liquid or anything if you add raisins to biscuit mix?

Salads are yummy! I have been making my own dressing with lowfat (or fatfree) Activia yogurt. You can add a little honey to sweeten it, seasonings, a tad olive oil/vinegar-or throw in some salza if you want a Mexican flavor. I found a really yummy & bean salza at Wal-mart.

THANK YOU! for giving me "permission" to seriously purge some kid clothes. I've been itching to do it, but it seemed so irresponsible.

I've got three kids 4 and under; "handing down" the never-ending surplus seems so logical, but it never seems to work out in practice.

The season is wrong for the younger child, (your older was wearing 18month size during winter and your younger needs summer clothing)

Or the younger kid gets an unexpected raft of nicer things from Grandma's garage-saling so your hand-me-down baggage remains surplus junk.

Or there's an opposite-sex kid between the two same-sex sibs, and you aren't really going to dress her in bulldozer-themed playclothes. (or him in flower-embroidered jeans.)

Or you plain forget about some hidden tub of clothes till the younger kid has already outgrown that size. Ugh.

SO NOT WORTH THE EFFORT. lol.

My first thought upon discovering #4 was on its way was, "dear God, what am I going to do with all the clothes???"
